History of the Mill .
The Mill Theatre is a skillful conversion of a former water mill known as Stoke Mills. The Domesday Book in 1086 records Stoke Mills as having been jointly owned by Countess Judith, niece of William I and Hugh de Beauchamp, both extensive landowners in Bedfordshire. It seems probably that there was a mill on the site prior to this.
A great deal of changes have happened to the mill in its history including it being left in a derelict state for many years until being renovated by the sharmbrook mill trust turning it into the theatre you see today ..
We have been extremely lucky to have been given permission to investigate this very historic location as the Trust are extremely protective of this venue and no wonder as it is full of props from many shows gone by .We only have a limited amount of spaces available, but we have been granted permission to investigate every part of the theatre including the stage , green room and the very eerie props and costume area .
Our last visit back in June 2018 Gave us dark shadows , loud bangs and a few group members being physically affected in certain areas .This time we are going in for longer and with more equipment to see if we can find out who still treads the boards of this historic Theatre. so come and join us for what promises to be a fantastic night ..
